Paul Tanico

As Chairman of the Board of Zefik, Paul is actively involved in the strategic planning and management consulting to the team, while CastleRock assists in financing.

Paul has over 35 years of experience in the investment business, initially in research at David J. Greene & Co. (70-year-old, New York-based, $2 billion value investing firm acquired by Lehman), and then as a Portfolio Manager at Atalanta Sosnoff ($10 billion large cap equity and fixed income asset management firm), Neuberger Berman (established in 1939, one of the world’s largest private, independent employee-controlled asset management companies, managing nearly $175 billion in assets), and Omega Advisors ($5 billion fundamental research driven long/short equity fund), where he was one of the original partners.
In 1993, Paul founded CastleRock Management, an investment firm that managed long/short long-biased U.S. equity funds. Paul is Chief Investment Officer at CastleRock. At its peak, CastleRock had over $1 billion AUM and over a 20-year period CastleRock Partners, L.P., the flagship fund, generated compounded cumulative net returns of almost double that of the S&P 500. In 2013, CastleRock liquidated its main fund and has since used its research capabilities to make both active and passive investments in several industries including financial, information technology, healthcare, energy, and a multi-country consumer restaurant franchise in Africa.
